Strange Bedfellows: Suddenly Rush Limbaugh is concerned about authorities shooting black men
Posted by Jill | 6:11 AM
I don't recall hearing Rush Limbaugh spout any outrage when police killed Amadou Diallo or Patrick Dorismond or Sean Bell. But the whiny-ass id-driven two-year-old who dominates wingnut talk radio has all of a sudden cast what he would have called "terrorists" had George W. Bush still been in office as "black teenagers":
They were kids. The story is out, I don't know if it's true or not, but apparently the hijackers, these kids, the merchant marine organizers, Muslim kids, were upset, they wanted to just give the captain back and head home because they were running out of food, they were running out of fuel, they were surrounded by all these US Navy ships, big ships, and they just wanted out of there. That's the story, but then when one of them put a gun to the back of the captain, Mr. Phillips, then bam, bam, bam. There you have it, and three teenagers shot on the high seas at the order of President Obama.

Congratulations, Rush. You are now officially sympatico with the Independent's left-leaning journalist Johann Hari.

Okay, this may be the stupidest thing Rush Limbaugh has ever said. It's even worse than the comparisons with Diallo and Bell suggest. I believe both men were the victims of excessive force and police misconduct, although there is room for others to disagree. I would have hoped, however, that we could all agree that these pirates needed a bullet in the head, no matter who ordered it.

I wish people could still disagree about ideas and issues without this "my guy is never wrong and your guy is never right" attitude. That gets really tiresome.

It is misleading to think of young men in a tribal society as "teenagers." One is either a man or one is not.
