It's a drop in the bucket, but it's a start

It's a very small start that hopefully will continue:
Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania recorded sizable gains in employment in March and were among 33 states posting increases.

In its monthly look at state job trends, the Labor Department said Friday that Maryland led the country with a gain of 35,800 payroll jobs last month. Virginia and Pennsylvania also posted increases that topped 20,000 in the month.

By contrast, Michigan continued to have the nation’s highest unemployment rate and also led the country in job losses in March with a decline of 9,500. Nevada and Florida also posted sizable job losses and were among 17 states recording job losses in the month.

Nationally, the unemployment remained unchanged at 9.7 percent in March while payrolls grew by 162,000, the biggest gain in three years.

The department’s report Friday showed how the job gains and losses were distributed among the states.

The increases in nonfarm payroll employment occurred in 33 states and the District of Colombia. In February, only 23 states had seen job gains while 27 states and the District of Columbia had recorded job losses.

Of course none of this will matter to the teabaggers, who are still going to be out there longing for the good old days when a white man was in the White House, TARP was instituted, and the economy was in a free-fall.

A few weeks ago, Rachel Maddow graphically depicted the job creation record since Barack Obama took office vs. the Bush years:

But the teabaggers don't let something as simple as facts and numbers get in the way; after all, as Stephen Colbert said, facts have a well-known liberal bias.

It doesn't matter to the teabaggers that Barack Obama has said NOTHING about guns, gun laws, or gun control.

It doesn't matter to the teabaggers that their Federal taxes have gone DOWN since Barack Obama took office (their state taxes may differ, but perhaps they might want to talk to their Republican governors about that one).

It doesn't even seem to matter that Obama is continuing many of the surveillance activities that were an outrage during the Bush years and still are; and it sure as hell didn't bother them then.

So what is this "freedom" they think they've lost? No one is trying to take their guns. Their Federal taxes are lower. So what is it? Is it just that someone they don't like is in the White House, and they think this is a Constitutional crisis?
