Important Alert to North Carolina Voters

In case anyone other than the two Tarheels whom I know read this blog hasn't heard about this: Apparently in North Carolina, you cannot vote for Barack Obama by choosing a straight Democratic party line vote; you MUST make your presidential selection separately. This is not a vote suppression issue, it's just appallingly bad design and policy, passed in 1967.

This has been circulating around our county. This is bad news for the "low information voters" on our side though.

Fortunately, in my county (Forsyth), there seems to be a lot of Obama people who are getting this word out at the polls themselves (outside the restricted distance of course).

The folks who worked at the poll also pointed this out as well (in a non-partisan way, since the "straight ticket" issue applies to McCain as well).

We have been getting the word out here in Cumberland county. When we give out Early Vote info, we make sure to include that detail. And I think it's been mentioned in the paper, also.
