"The liberal soul shall be made fat, and he that watereth, shall be watered also himself." -- Proverbs 11:25 |
i dont know one person who wants Hillary as the nominee -- and most people i know are pretty liberal, progressive and sane. (ok relatively)
I don't think Hillary will be the one, though. The bubble will burst when she loses Iowa... and it's really hard to see her winning Iowa. The real suspense now is whether Obama or Edwards wins, and whether an Edwards win can be parlayed into other primary wins. I think it can.
I guess I'm feeling fairly optimistic.
I find it incredibly lazy to lump her in with the way they perceived Bill's presidency (which was really OK for them and alot of people mainly because they felt pretty comfortable...but that doesnt address the truth of some of the more unsavory things that went down) and to assume that Hill is some big liberal who is going to follow through on ending the war and rolling back what Bush has done. Yeah, end the war proper, but keep a hundred thousand soldiers there and the biggest embassy ever...and us on the verge with Iran and her hawkishness...and her feeling like she has to represent all people equally, in that rolling back tax cuts for the rich may not actually happen...Im not getting a clear plan.
I dont like it, and I dont know why people arent taking this clear information into account. The feeling about Hillary seems to be just that; a feeling.
For real change and to work on our own country, which god knows needs help, Edwards is the guy.
I am 100% behind Edwards and am even a little hopeful that he will pull this off.
I think youre right. Hill-Bill, Bill-Hill...its all a warm feeling that makes people think of the tech boom and peace time...but how would he or any of them handle whats happening now, is anyone's guess. I expect that it could be closer to the neocon approach than we want to admit.
