I know that the homoerotic nature of male pundits is going to force them th fall madly in love with Rick Perry. After all, he's another grinning, glad-handing sack of shit govenor for Texas with a penchant for macho drag, a sibilant "s" in his speech, an ostentaiously religious man, with a history of lousy grades in college. Hey, what could go wrong?
Here's what could go wrong. We on the left talk a lot about "Christian Taliban", and we've taken a lot of crap because no one's yet in the streets beating up women for voting or wearing short skirts. But that could change under a Rick Perry or Michele Bachmann presidency, because both are part of Christian Reconstruction, as Rachel Maddow pointed out the other night:
I know guys like Joe Scarborough and Chris Matthews love their mancrushes. I just hope that they look at the bigger picture when slobbering all over this guy, at the very least, read
this article before deciding that cowboy boots and a full head or hair are sufficient qualifications for presiding over a diverse nation.
Labels: blog against theocracy, Christian Dominionism, Rick Perry
I grant you this though; Perry is not the guy to run this country. He is frankly no more qualified than the current POTUS. Romney is sometimes seen as a phony but he does not hold a candle to Gov Good Hair.
Why does God hate America?
Virginia and Kansas have passed "stricter regulations" on abortion providers forcing them to comply with "hospital-style structural demands" that require "time-consuming and costly structural changes in order to continue to serve patients—or face closure." The three abortion providers in Kansas have brought a lawsuit and will be allowed to operate until it is resolved.
And that's not all the states in which the Christian Taliban have been active.
Really? No Christian Taliban?
Yeah, we got Christian Taliban in this country and our Bartender friend here is drooling to put them in power.
I really don't want to put any so called "Christian Taliban" in power. In fact I can't think of anything worse. I generally don't trust extremists on either the left or right. They all end up, historically in the same place. That place is totalitarianism. I don't want my country being run by the flower power childish leftists nor by the ultra right nuts.
Thankfully in this country the electorate usually seems to discard the fringe candidates. Usually. For instance the leftist fringe whines that President Obama is not far enough to the left while the far right calls the man a Socialist at every opportunity. I would guess that you, sir, fall into the category of the ultra left. Your right to do so of course, just don't expect anyone to really take you seriously.
BTW I will grant you that I am glad I am not a science teacher in this state. I work with some and they have to tread very carefully when "evolution time" in the curriculum comes around.
I am really trying hard here not to label you an idiot. I have done pretty well. Don't you think?
