Yeah, they dismissed him as a comedian and underestimated him. Even on SNL you could see the intelligence he carried. Fearless, nothing to prove, fighting for things to be right and a defender of women...Love this man

I met him at a fund raiser at Paul Simon's house when Durbin was making his first Senate run. I don't even recall what year that was, maybe the summer of 2000.

I knew he was sharp but it's really wonderful to see what a powerful voice he wields in hearings like this. I may have to reassess my dislike of all things senatorial.
