Monday Morning YouTubing: Tony Awards Edition
Posted by Jill | 6:14 AM
So I sat up and watched the Tony Awards last night, and afterwards the only musical I found myself wanting to see, amazingly enough, was Rock of Ages, which is ridiculous since I hated, hated, hated this music the first time around. THIS, folks, is what "so bad it's good" looks like:

Next to Normal looked interesting, but I couldn't help feeling that this music sounded a lot like it was composed by Jim Steinman and that the husband should have been played by Meat Loaf:

I don't care if ModFab says the show is actually good, I would still rather have root canal without anesthesia than sit through this again. Been there, done that, LAST time around:

And if you had any thoughts of seeing the current revival of Guys and Dolls, even after reading my review, save your money. Because the only 4 minutes of this show that are any good are right here:

The Missus and I actually saw the Hair revival in Central Park this summer and had a blast. Granted there were a lot of hippies in it, but the music reminded me of my childhood.

I had the TV show on as background noise. A little after 10:30 it I noticed the presenters began speaking very fast, it must have been running over & the director was signaling to speed up.

The first determination I make about a Broadway show is if it'd actually a drag review with a woman playing a lead part ideally conceived for a female impersonator (Mame, Hello Dolly).

The Mrs. and I were saying the same thing about Hair.
