One man's earmark is another man's vital project

In which John McCain's Mini-Me clearly demonstrates the hypocrisy of Republicans regarding earmarks: When it's YOUR state it's pork. When it's HIS state it's an important project:

Look, McCain is still running against Obama for president.

And Gregory is running for Republican Mouthpiece. He called a bill that contains less than 1.9% of its spending as earmarks "full of pork". Let's say you weigh 100 pounds and you are 1.9% overweight, i.e., 1.9 pounds overweight. Are you "full of fat"?

Second, he called these earmarks "pork". What is "pork" or "pork barrel spending"? It is "a government appropriation, bill, or policy that supplies funds for local improvements designed to ingratiate legislators with their constituents." So is catfish genetics research "designed to ingratiate legislators with their constituents", or is it worthwhile spending on an agricultural matter that may bring more money to the state in improved fish farming techniques? We don't know because the press prefers to ridicule rather than to examine issues. Is money for controlling the Mormon cricket, which wiped out ten million acres of crops a few years ago, "designed to ingratiate legistlators with their constituents", or is it worthwhile spending on a significant agricultural hazzard? We don't know. The press certainly has nothing to say about it that can answer that. Gregory here labels ALL earmarks as "pork", while ignoring what pork is and also ignoring whether the earmarks are a worthwhile thing to spend money on and also making the ridiculous claim that the bill is "full of pork".
