Is the recent shuffle at the State Department a signal of an upcoming power shift at the White House that would make Condoleeza Rice Vice President?

Think about it...it would give Bush a VP not universally hated, it would make Condi the incumbent in the event Bush were impeached, and it would make her the automatic frontrunner for the 2008 presidential nomination, given that McCain's Hail Mary pass on the Iraq War is likely to blow up in his face, and Saint Rudy's attempts to erase his past don't seem to be working.

Since the Democrats have Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton both likely to run, but each has only ONE Of the black/woman factor, it stands to reason that the Republicans would LOVE to see Condi run, so that they could one-up any "groundbreaking" aspect that the Democrats could come up with.

The only questions are a) whether Condi is seen as too close to a failed president for Americans to want a sequel, and b) whether Laura Bush will stand for it.
