Around the Blogroll and Elsewhere: Watching For Frogs Coming Out of the Sky Edition
Posted by Jill | 6:08 AM
Greetings from saturated northern New Jersey, where it has been raining since the top of the page -- I mean forever -- I mean since 6 AM yesterday, and where some nearby towns have received over four inches of rain. So far the basement family room seems dry, at least at the low point where the pump is. But I'm headed out this morning through the most flood-prone areas, so we'll see if I can get home tonight. The Passaic River isn't expected to crest until noonish tomorrow, so hopefully I can do my time at work today and get home tonight. Otherwise, local hotels, seeing the potential to make some money during an otherwise slow time, are offering discounted rates to people with an employee badge.

So there isn't really time to write coherently about how I feel about Peter King's witch hunt, or the utter disaster happening in Japan even as I write, or which is more appalling: the gang rape of an 11-year-old in Texas or the New York Times' coverage about it.

Blue Girl explains what would have happened if the bomb planted on the route of the Martin Luther King, Jr. parade in Spokane had gone off. And Peter King is having hearings on Muslims.

Driftglass says a not-so-fond goodbye to David Broder.

Batocchio (and all of us to whom he generously linked for so long) says good bye and good luck to Mike Finnigan, who is ending Mike's Blog Roundup at Crooks and Liars.

A warm "Welcome back, we missed you!" to The New York Crank.

Jess, I feel pretty much the same way about all this.

Tom Degan on how PBS has changed our lives.

Konagod loses his religion.

Hey, Peter King: When do we get to call the mass molestation of children "terrorism"?

Yeah. What BadTux said.
