Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow are only on the air to make you think NBC/GE isn't in the tank for McCain/Palin
Posted by Jill | 6:10 AM
Tomorrow is the next debate between Barack Obama and John McCain. And if you're John McCain this morning, you're hardly even breaking a sweat. Because you know that the format is going to be one that's comfortable for you, and that your guy is going to be at the helm.

At one time, Tom Brokaw was a journalist. But those days are long past, now that it's his job to address the hissy-fits that Grandpa's Jesus Camp has whenever the media dares to ask a question. Brian Williams was griping on Letterman last week how he's the only network news anchor to have not scored an interview with Sarah Palin:

...and it's going to be up to Tom Brokaw tomorrow night to score him that interview. And rest assured, Brokaw will do what he has to. Because it's his job to do whatever he has to in order keep Maverick Johnny happy.

You know, sort like a groupie. Or maybe a publicist.

Brokaw is so in the thrall of his "greatest generation" orgasmatron that anyone older than he is, especially a man that's been in the military, is a demigod.

I've been thinking how nice it is to have a liberal and an undeclared on in the evening. Goodness knows the mornings are truly loaded up with conservatives.

I'm hoping that Obama comes off as very warm and natural and will contrast nicely with McCain's stiff meanness.

I've been wondering for a long while now when Brokaw is going to get around to informing the surviving members of that Greatest Generation , how ignorant they were to make the collective personal sacrifices they made fighting their two war - the draft, rationing, scrap, and bond drives, and paying the highest incomes taxes, both personal and corporate in our history - when the conservative "conventional wisdom" of today just tosses it all on the National credit card and some are talking "permanent tax cuts".

What tax rate did GE pay in 1941-45, Tom ? And what rate would you have been paying in your present bracket?

Interesting video. I love to hear Dave Letterman talking about what he is seeing in this campaign.

Some celebrity endorsements don't matter. But a few do because of how well the viewers know them. Oprah, Leno, Lettermen, Jon Stewart... people tune into them 4-5 nights per week. We know stories about their families, we know how often they vacation, we know how they think.

To hear someone like Letterman up there expressing his doubts, I think it must be making some people think.

At least I hope so. I really hope so.
