Everything You Need To Know About News Corp. In One Picture

Check out yesterday's New York Post front page:

See the headline on the left? When Rupert Murdoch takes over every remaining newspaper in the country, EVERY paper will look like this.

But still....those potty-mouthed bloggers should be ashamed of themselves. They aren't REAL journalists like the fine people who decided that the only kind of fat cat worthy of the front cover and a demeaning headline was of the feline ilk -- and a female one at that.

UPDATE: So now the headline is a gay slur. "Princess Chunk" is a prince. And he was abandoned because his owner was foreclosed out of her home.

I want to point out here that everyone knows what a total trashheap the New York Post--any Murdoch-owned publication--is, and yet people go on buying it and citing it as a source.

For over thirty years, my mantra has been "The Post is not a newspaper" Except for the day Isaac Asimov died, I have not touched a Post. (Subway recycling.) I have not bought it since 1976. I would not, without corroboration, accept anything in its pages as fact.

(The Post used to be a liberal paper; the Daily News was the far-right rag. Last time I was on that side of the country I noticed that the Snooze is practically conservative/center, and they've finally deep-sixed Dick Tracy. Also, Mike Lupica is looking his age.)

And yes, I know there aren't enough newspaper choices in New York.

A lot of people cited the sainted Murray Kempton (the last openly liberal columnist at the Post).

He's been dead for a few years now.

Lest we forget, Keith Rupert Murdoch also owns Britain's top-selling "red top" tabloids, as in The Sun and its Sunday counterpart, the (ironically-named, methinks) News of the World.

The latter having been found guilty in Britain's High Court last week for invading the privacy of Formula 1 leader Max Mosley vis-a-vis reports back in March that Mosley hosted a sadisto BDSM orgy with Nazi overtones.

As if that weren't enough, Herr Mosley is considering suing said News of the World for libel and defamation.

(Mosley, know, is the son of British Fascist leader Sir Oswald Mosley.)
