Joe Lieberman is despicable

It's not that this is a news flash, or something you don't already know. But via Crooks and Liars (which has the video), Atrios, and Tim Dickinson at Rolling Stone comes this chilling sentiment by Joe Lieberman at the weekend's American Enterprise Institute wargasm, featuring the John 'n' Joe show:

In words that should trouble any Democrats counting Lieberman in their camp, Lieberman was praising Bush as a “great leader” for bucking American opinion, as expressed in the 2006 election, in his determination to double down in Iraq. Lieberman then said something incredible:

Even those opposed to the surge, he said, “ought to at least let us try it.”

“The worst that could happen,” he continued, is that this policy could become another partisan flashpoint in Washington.


In Joe Lieberman's world, that's the worst that could happen -- that it might cause people in Washington to argue. If you needed further proof that the voters in Connecticut got it dead wrong when they sent this disgusting, craven beast back to Washington, there it is. That many of the 20,000-30,000 additional troops could come home in flag-draped coffins doesn't even occur to Holy Joe. These kids that he wants to continue to send to Iraq are just so much cannon fodder -- unimportant, unnecessary, forgotten already. That, my friends, is the true face of Joe Liberman.
