On this Day in 1941, Germany & Italy declared war on the United States. Benito Mussolini was the first to make the announcement, followed a few hours later by Hitler. Those nations had a defense treaty with Japan. The United States had officially been at war only with Japan. We waited for the other two members of the Tripartite Alliance to join Japan. Even then, with Pearl Harbor Naval Base in smoking ruins, we were not going to war on the "preemptive" plan. Shocked? Yep, that defeatist commie socialist Franklin Roosevelt exposed us to conquest by the Fasci di Combattimento of Il Duce for three days.
